You should be able to describe the arrangement and movement of particles in each state and relate these to the macroscopic properties (shape and volume).

1.2 Kinetic Particle Theory of Matter

This theory explains the behavior of matter based on the movement of its particles:

All matter is composed of tiny particles (atoms, ions, or molecules).
These particles are constantly in random motion.
The kinetic energy of the particles increases with temperature (higher temperature means faster motion).
Attractive forces between particles determine the state of matter.

Understanding the kinetic particle theory helps explain phenomena such as:

Diffusion:
- It is the spreading out of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration due to their random motion.
Changes of State: These occur when the energy of particles changes, affecting intermolecular forces:
