This method allowed him to progressively cultivate good habits and diminish bad ones, aiming to complete four full cycles of the virtues annually.

Regarding his religious views, Franklin, though raised Presbyterian, developed a deistic outlook. He believed in a benevolent Deity, the immortality of the soul, and that serving God primarily involved doing good to humanity. He respected all religions that promoted moral conduct, preferring practical ethics over divisive theological doctrines.
