Fellowship at The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Program

The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Program, affiliated with the University of Ottawa, offers a one-year fellowship with two distinct streams: Head and Neck Radiation Oncology and MR-LINAC and Gastrointestinal Radiation Oncology. This program is part of one of Canada's largest cancer programs, providing radiation oncology services to 1.5 million people in the Ottawa area and Nunavut, handling over 6000 new patient consults annually. The program boasts advanced radiation treatment facilities, including CT simulators with 4D capability, MR Simulator, brachytherapy, Elekta linear accelerators, CyberKnife, and MR-LINAC.

The Head and Neck Radiation Oncology Fellowship focuses on developing leaders in the field, providing extensive experience in managing complex head and neck oncology patients within a multidisciplinary framework, with a caseload of over 250 patients per year. The team includes 4 Radiation Oncologists and 3 Head and Neck Surgeons.

The MR-LINAC and Gastrointestinal Radiation Oncology Fellowship emphasizes advanced multidisciplinary treatment for common and rare GI tract malignancies. Fellows will gain experience with advanced image guidance and ablative radiotherapy techniques, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment like MR sim, CyberKnife, and MR-LINAC, and will be involved in the implementation and quality improvement of MR LINAC workflows, particularly for GI cancers and abdominal oligometastases.

Applicants must hold FRCPC in Radiation Oncology or equivalent, be eligible for educational licensure in Ontario, and be proficient in English. Preference is given to Canadian applicants with Royal College certification. Applications for fellowships commencing July 1, 2026, are due by September 30, 2025, and require a Curriculum Vitae, three recent letters of reference, and a letter outlining interest, learning goals, and potential projects. Non-Canadians will need additional documentation, and the final selection includes an electronic application to the University of Ottawa and an interview.
